Lions, Elephants, Bears Oh My!!!

So Mary and Faye left us boys alone to fend for ourselves due to the cabin fever being on the verge of inducing hallucinations and erratic behavior.

That said this is one of the lovely results of leaving me alone with my boys. SMILE LEWIS! :-)

Of course, as soon as Bailey saw the camera was out, he was posing, smiling, and waiting for his picture to be taken. The little ham couldn't let his brother have a picture taken and he miss out on the fun! :-)

Christmas Morning...

...well, we've been snowed in for the last 5-6 days now and it's been a little crazy. Fortunately, we had done a little shopping for Bailey a couple of weeks ago (normally, I'm totally a last minute shopper!)...so we had gifts for him to open...take a look! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! xoxo

Arctic Blast '08-Part 2

Well, we've been snowed in now for about 4 days. I've never been snowed in this long in my life! Here are a couple of pictures I've taken since we've been trapped. This first one is our driveway...the others are our neighbors' driveways with drifts about 7 feet high. Crazy Troutdale wind has been blowing like crazy...about 25-30 mph sustained with 40-50 mph gusts! The last picture is Bailey having a "snack" of a bowl of snow...hey! he asked for it!

Dare I say...he's sleeping through the night?!

Lewis has been consistently sleeping at least 7-8 hours each night. I hate to even say it out loud because I don't want to jinx it but...

And he's just cute to boot! :)

Vintage Bailey & Grandma conversation...

We've been snowed in for the last several days...it's really annoying just in general but particularly frustrating for a very active 2 year old. On Wednesday, Grandma was changing Bailey's poopie diaper (potty training is hit-and-miss...it was obviously a "miss" on this day) and this is what she had to say to him about it: "STINKY, Bailey! This diaper stinks so bad, I don't think Santa is going to come." Nice. I hope this helps many of you understand why I'm such a unique individual.

This morning I overheard this exchange between Bailey and Grandma:

"Bailey! Where are you going with my 'mote (that's what he calls the TV remote)?!"

slam, slam, BEEP!

"Um, Grandma...he just put your 'mote in the washing machine...and turned it on." (my contribution to the chaos)

"BAILEY!!!!"

Arctic Blast 2008

Yes, that's what they call it in Portland when we get an inch of snow...supposedly we're supposed to get up to 3 inches today...the freeways are already shut down (I'm not even joking)...so basically, we're snowed in. What a hoot! Bailey wanted to go outside this morning so I bundled him up in whatever we could find (we don't exactly own snow clothes here) and took him outside. He thought the deck was a mess and it needed to be cleaned up. As soon as I dislodged his frozen broom, he started sweeping all the snow off the deck.

What fun!

Tonight we took Bailey to see the zoo lights and ride the zoo train. What a fantastic moment in Mommyhood! He was so excited to see all the lights and the choo-choo train. He wasn't too sure what to think when we got on the train and it started off. His eyes were as big as saucers and he was just taking everything in. He's so smart and expressive (gee, wonder where he gets that?!) so anytime we experience something for the first time, everyone has as much fun as he does. He had his two-year-old checkup today at the doctor. He only weighs 23 lbs and he's 32" tall. He's in the 5th percentile for weight and the 8th percentile for height. In the pediatrician's words "he's a little guy". But he's way ahead of the curve developmentally and the doctor was very impressed with his language abilities (again, where did he come by THAT?!).

All in all, he's doing great and loves his baby brother. He got a new toddler bed yesterday so I'm sure there will be fun fiasco stories to post about this new adventure!

Happy Birthday, Bailey!

Bailey *loves* (and I mean *LOVES*) Thomas the Train. We bought him this (click on the word "this" for a link to the website) Thomas play table for his birthday. He has seen it a few times at Toys R Us and we could hardly pull him away. Here is a video from this morning of him seeing his present for the first time. His party is this afternoon so I'm sure we'll have at least one more post today...stay tuned!

It's birthday week!

Last night we invited all of Bailey's grandparents over for a little birthday party for Bailey. Grandma Nancy was in town for a few days so we were especially excited that she was able to join us. As you can see from the pictures, Lewis is growing like crazy. He woke up on Sunday morning like "Oh! This is what you dragged me out here for!" and has been smiling and very alert all of the sudden. It's pretty cute. Enjoy!

Marty's mom isn't so good with geography...

We watch "Wheel of Fortune" every night. I have to admit, I love that show. It's my mission in life to get on there some day. For the last few weeks, they've been doing the show in Hawaii. The other night, they had finished up their Hawaii shows and were back at the regular set in L.A. This is a direct quote from Faye: "Oh! They must be back in the United States." Yep.

It's a good thing she's such a great Grandma! :) Here are some new photos! Enjoy!

Bailey can already use the computer better than Grandma!

New pictures

Since this is the only reason you're here, I'll be accommodating! :) Things are going well with Lewis...he thinks if he's awake, he should be eating. Every ounce he drinks goes straight to his cheeks! He's growing so fast-he's about the same size Bailey was at 3 months! They look quite a bit alike too but it's already clear they will have quite different personalities! Lewis likes to just sit back and observe while Bailey goes through life at 100 mph! Lewis also has a lightening quick temper while Bailey is much more laid back and kind of puts up with whatever. Bailey is still getting used to the baby...he likes the baby but he's definitely not too keen on the idea of someone else being the center of attention!

A turtle and a pumpkin...

...sounds like the beginning of a bad joke! We went to Auntie Erika's house last night for a little Halloween fun. Lewis slept through the whole thing and Bailey was happy just handing out candy (in a "one for you, one for me" way) to the kids that came trick-or-treating. It was sketchy at first because the first time he went to the door, he looked through the window and saw a vampire the same size as him and stopped in his tracks and ran back and threw himself into me. After that, he was good...no more midget vampires. :)

The Real Reason You're Here...

Everything has been going really well so far. Lewis is doing great and growing big and strong. I decided to give breastfeeding the boot so he's been eating really well and Mommy and Daddy can take the night shifts. Bailey isn't so sure about him quite yet...he likes to check in on him alot-I think he's realized that Lewis isn't leaving anytime soon. He likes to give lots of kisses but he also likes to steal Lewis's binky out of his mouth as often as possible...let the games begin! :) Here is a new picture:

He's here!

Lewis Patrick McGlothlan arrived on October 23 at 2:17 p.m. He weighed 7lbs 14oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. He and Mommy are both doing great! Here are a few photos...check out all his blond hair! :)

Baby Lewis update

So, I went to the doctor today and she says everything is progressing nicely and that if I don't go into labor on my own, she will induce me next Thursday morning (October 23). We are so excited to meet our new little man and I am *way* ready to be done with this pregnancy. I'm happy that it might be the 23rd because that's the birthday of our very dear friend Karl Mahns. Karl passed away in June and has left a huge hole in our lives. We would be thrilled to be honoring both Karl and my other 2nd dad, Lou, by welcoming baby Lewis on Karl's birthday. We will keep you posted, of course but be sure to check back around the 23rd for pictures of Lewis Patrick. Our love to you all!

They just come this way...

...today, I asked Bailey if he was stinky. He pointed at the dog and said "Sasha". How do boys learn to blame "it" on the dog?!

Guys will be Guys

K, so Bailey just attained a new level of appreciation for sports. Below is his picture of him watching the Seattle Nwe york game today. He of course was telling the running back to "go, go" in an attempt to help them. Check out how engrossed he was with the game! Seriously, we have a fan waiting in the wings. :-)

New boy tricks...

So far today, Bailey has demonstrated two new boy skills: using his toy hammer like a gun and pointing it at us saying "bang! bang!" (what?!) and picking his nose. Not just resting his finger in his nose like he sometimes has in the past but like for real, digging-for-gold nose picking. Awesome.

What can I say?

There's nothing that needs to be said to explain these pictures...it was definitely a "try-not-to-laugh-but-hurry!-grab-the-camera" moment.

Boys will be boys...

The other night I came home from work and Bailey was using his hairbrush as a broom and sweeping the kitchen floor (somehow that was not out of the ordinary at our house). I went in the living room and he came in waving his hairbrush saying "clean! clean!" or I thought he was saying "clean". Pretty soon he was moving it like a toothbrush and I realized he was saying "teeth! teeth!" I smiled and looked away and the next thing I hear is the hairbrush/broom/toothbrush clanking in the dog dish. He promptly came back and showed me how he was brushing his teeth with the hairbrush/broom dipped in dog water. What "clean" "teeth" he had!

Berry pickin'...

Today, Bailey went on a walk with Grandma and apparently, they found a blackberry patch...and some pretty flowers for Mommy.

Overheard yesterday...

Grandma: "NO!! Bailey, get out of there!"
Toilet lid slamming
Grandma: "ARGH! Wash your hands!"

Best parenthood moment...

Last night my baby laughed until he cried. That was the best thing ever.

What a difference a year can make!

Here is a picture of Bailey in his pool last summer and one from just the other day. His head is about the same size (thank God) but the rest of him has grown so much!

By the way, the picture looks all blurry because Bailey got a hold of the camera with his grubby little mits and figured out the the shutter "protector" will open by force. Ugh.

It's a...

...nother boy! We might name him Clyde...or Drexler...we haven't decided yet.

Upgrade from Teddy Bear?

According to Disney an upgrade from a Teddy Bear would be Mickey Mouse or some other creation of theirs.

Bailey of course has found out it is fun to play with this "life size" Mickey Mouse. One of his favorite things to do is put Mickey on the ground and pummel him with his body. He laughs and laughs while he "plays" with Mickey.

Really this entire post is to put up an adorable photo of our Munchkin, their will likely be a second post today as well... Wait patiently for it! :-) Were super excited for our news later today!

Best Friends...

...are what make the world a great place. I really like this one of mine in particular...and I don't even hate her for looking better in a bikini six-months pregnant than I ever have or will. Love you, EJoy!

Evangelism at its finest...

Today I saw a church sign that said "Jesus is the boss of you." Really? That's the best evangelical marketing tactic you could come up with? Usually this same church has things like "Do you know Jesus? If not, get ready to spend eternity in hell." or something really encouraging like "Jesus won't help you if you don't repent." Gag me. Maybe I've put way too much stock in the whole concept of grace but last I checked, God's love wasn't contingent on anything. But, hey, what do I know? What with my master's degree in Religion and all that.

A pumpkin for Halloween...

We're having a baby! As many of you know, after suffering a miscarriage it can be nerve-racking to get pregnant again and worry even more that something is going to go haywire! We've somehow managed to hold out on our big news for the last 12 weeks but with a second healthy ultrasound this afternoon, we (the "me" part of we) have decided it's time to break the news! We're thrilled, of course, still a little scared but excited to have another little munchkin to keep us on our toes. But seriously, I'm due on Halloween...kinda creepy if you ask me! :)

Theology...

Today a friend of mine told me about someone that she knew who had just gotten home from a two-week-long mission trip. This was the lesson she brought back with her:

"One thing I learned on this mission trip is that pissing contests can get real messy."

There. You. Have. It.

As promised...

Okay, so this is EVERY day (like 3 times a day because he can't get around if we don't clean it up during every nap)...not just a once in a while thing...God love him! :)

Mischief!

Can't you tell by the gleam in his eye how mischievious he is?? Everyone at our house has been sick this week and the poor little man just doesn't feel good but (for those of you who don't know Bailey very well) he's not the type to just snuggle and hang out when he's sick. He gets even more off the hook. It's like he doesn't know what to do so he just does the usual only louder and more destructively. Tomorrow I'll post a picture of what the house looks like about 2 hours after Bailey wakes up in the morning. In the meantime...

My First Happy Meal

OH! My little punkin' is growing up so quickly! Last night he had his first Happy Meal...okay, mostly he had ketchup but he had a few fries and a couple of chicken nuggets and he ate lots of ketchup and wore lots of ketchup! Here's a picture and a couple short videos with the camera phone that only records for 15 seconds and 15 seconds just isn't long enough to capture all that cute.

Talk about having a monkey on your back...

Okay so most of you know that we affectionately refer to Bailey as our monkey. However, in this case it's attached to him. He was thoroughly enjoying having his monkey running around with him as shown in these photos...
