Arctic Blast 2008

Yes, that's what they call it in Portland when we get an inch of snow...supposedly we're supposed to get up to 3 inches today...the freeways are already shut down (I'm not even joking)...so basically, we're snowed in. What a hoot! Bailey wanted to go outside this morning so I bundled him up in whatever we could find (we don't exactly own snow clothes here) and took him outside. He thought the deck was a mess and it needed to be cleaned up. As soon as I dislodged his frozen broom, he started sweeping all the snow off the deck.

What fun!

Tonight we took Bailey to see the zoo lights and ride the zoo train. What a fantastic moment in Mommyhood! He was so excited to see all the lights and the choo-choo train. He wasn't too sure what to think when we got on the train and it started off. His eyes were as big as saucers and he was just taking everything in. He's so smart and expressive (gee, wonder where he gets that?!) so anytime we experience something for the first time, everyone has as much fun as he does. He had his two-year-old checkup today at the doctor. He only weighs 23 lbs and he's 32" tall. He's in the 5th percentile for weight and the 8th percentile for height. In the pediatrician's words "he's a little guy". But he's way ahead of the curve developmentally and the doctor was very impressed with his language abilities (again, where did he come by THAT?!).

All in all, he's doing great and loves his baby brother. He got a new toddler bed yesterday so I'm sure there will be fun fiasco stories to post about this new adventure!

Happy Birthday, Bailey!

Bailey *loves* (and I mean *LOVES*) Thomas the Train. We bought him this (click on the word "this" for a link to the website) Thomas play table for his birthday. He has seen it a few times at Toys R Us and we could hardly pull him away. Here is a video from this morning of him seeing his present for the first time. His party is this afternoon so I'm sure we'll have at least one more post today...stay tuned!

It's birthday week!

Last night we invited all of Bailey's grandparents over for a little birthday party for Bailey. Grandma Nancy was in town for a few days so we were especially excited that she was able to join us. As you can see from the pictures, Lewis is growing like crazy. He woke up on Sunday morning like "Oh! This is what you dragged me out here for!" and has been smiling and very alert all of the sudden. It's pretty cute. Enjoy!

Marty's mom isn't so good with geography...

We watch "Wheel of Fortune" every night. I have to admit, I love that show. It's my mission in life to get on there some day. For the last few weeks, they've been doing the show in Hawaii. The other night, they had finished up their Hawaii shows and were back at the regular set in L.A. This is a direct quote from Faye: "Oh! They must be back in the United States." Yep.

It's a good thing she's such a great Grandma! :) Here are some new photos! Enjoy!

New pictures

Since this is the only reason you're here, I'll be accommodating! :) Things are going well with Lewis...he thinks if he's awake, he should be eating. Every ounce he drinks goes straight to his cheeks! He's growing so fast-he's about the same size Bailey was at 3 months! They look quite a bit alike too but it's already clear they will have quite different personalities! Lewis likes to just sit back and observe while Bailey goes through life at 100 mph! Lewis also has a lightening quick temper while Bailey is much more laid back and kind of puts up with whatever. Bailey is still getting used to the baby...he likes the baby but he's definitely not too keen on the idea of someone else being the center of attention!

A turtle and a pumpkin...

...sounds like the beginning of a bad joke! We went to Auntie Erika's house last night for a little Halloween fun. Lewis slept through the whole thing and Bailey was happy just handing out candy (in a "one for you, one for me" way) to the kids that came trick-or-treating. It was sketchy at first because the first time he went to the door, he looked through the window and saw a vampire the same size as him and stopped in his tracks and ran back and threw himself into me. After that, he was good...no more midget vampires. :)
